The Gifts That Learning To Dye Yarn Has Given Me
I’m sending out a huge thank you this morning to Heather of Sew Happy Jane for offering her Kool-Aid dye class last year. Taking that class has literally changed my life and has made it so much more rewarding, fulfilling, exciting and has opened up opportunities I couldn’t have imagined.
Being able to play with color every day has brought me so much joy. Being able to have an idea for a knitting design, dye the yarn any color I want and being able to cast on the next day is so frickin’ exiting! And being able to share my creations with others is so fulfilling. Adding the hand dyed yarn to my business has been one of my best decisions and has made a huge impact on the growth of my business.
The other thing it has done is opened up opportunities for new collaborations and new friendships. I am so fortunate to be able to collaborate with some of my favorite artists in this industry, and more importantly, build new friendships. When artists work together and promote one another, some pretty magical things can happen.
Here is a list of the current collaborations I am working on:
Sept. 7, 2023 ~ Tayler of Tayler Anne Knits new design
Sept. 19, 2023 ~ Crystal of Milly's Knit Designs new design
Sept. 20-24, 2023 ~ Trunk show at Knot Another Hat in Hood River, OR
Oct. 1, 2023 ~ Collaboration with Laura of My Tomato Moon
Jan 2024 ~ Shel Designs line launch with Angie of The Traveling Yarn Yogi
Feb 2024 ~ Collaboration with Heather of Sew Happy Jane
When I started dyeing yarn, something magical opened up inside of me. I can’t really explain it, but it’s like finding an abundant hidden treasure, one that keeps giving me exciting and unexpected gifts.
So thank you, Heather, from the bottom of my overflowing heart, for sharing your passion with me and for being such a good friend and business buddy. You ROCK!! Sista!
